Benefits
Learning outdoors is healthy.
- Outdoor classrooms allow students to become more active throughout the day, therefore increasing their physical, mental, and social well-being. Outdoor learning allows students to manage stress through a stress-reducing environment.
- Studies have indicated that outdoor classrooms can increase student engagement and enthusiasm towards learning.
- Outdoor classrooms create an entry point for families and community members to become involved with student learning.
- Outdoor learning helps support the emotional, behavioural, and intellectual development of students. It has been shown, through studies, that outdoor learning can aid students in developing a sense of self, independence, confidence, creativity, motor skills, and problem-solving skills.
